Writers’ opportunities

The Paranda Network

We’re always happy to hear from aspiring Afghan women writers who are interested in joining the Paranda Network. It’s incredibly heartening to see a community of interest develop since the network’s inception in 2019 and we hope to grow the programme further over the coming months and years.

Currently, we do not have the capacity to respond to new enquiries and submissions, but we’ll keep a secure copy of your stories and endeavour to respond as soon as we are able and if an opportunity arises to join the network. *Please note, the Paranda Network is a writers development programme for Afghan women writers over the age of 18 and therefore we are unable to accept submissions from male writers and anyone under the age of 18.

Submissions and expressions of interest can be sent to Untold Narratives’ Editorial & Partnerships Manager, Erin Bradshaw erin@untold-narratives.org. So that we can respond appropriately when the time comes, please ensure your email contains the following information:

• Some information about yourself and your writing experience
• How you heard about us
• Briefly tell us about why you want to join the programme and what you want to achieve
• If it’s safe and secure to disclose, please let us know where you are from and where you are currently based (in Afghanistan or in the diaspora) as well as what language(s) you speak and write in
• If you have previously published work, please link this, attach examples or provide a synopsis of longer works
• If you haven’t published anything previously, please attach a writing sample

Sudan and South Sudan

We welcome submissions and expressions of interest from aspiring writers from Sudan and South Sudan.
