Singing into the Void: Feminist Visual Arts Practice, Bagri Samaya Series, London

September 18, 2025

Join the final event of the Bagri Samaya Series. We’ll screen Shirin Neshat’s short film Turbulent, where two singers perform to explore gender roles and cultural power through ancient Persian music and poetry. We will also hear from curator Lotte Johnson, who will discuss themes from Citra Sasmita’s Barbican exhibition, and artist Aziza Kadyri, founder of the women’s collective Qizlar in Uzbekistan.

This event is part of the Bagri Samaya Series, A Woman Hums: Women, Voice, Creativity, in partnership with Untold. The event will take place at Bagri Foundation, London, on 18 September, 6:30PM.

It’s free to attend, but registration is essential.
